BABES ON THE BAY TOURNAMENT

5-14-2016--The tournament had a record number of contestants this year.  My group of four ladies managed to weigh in a complete stringer of three trout and one redfish but none of the fish were really tournament size.  They had an exciting beginning with 9 trout and one massive 41 inch redfish caught in the first hour.  The 41 inch red did not count in the tournament because only reds up to 28 inches could be weighed in.  Next came with two hours of no keepers when we moved to find larger trout.  When we went for slot sized redfish they were also on the small side. The group is already looking forward to next year and another opportunity to win.

FISHING FOR DINNER

5-12-2016--This morning I did not have clients but I needed to find fish for the tournament this weekend and the freezer was empty so I went fishing for a couple of hours.  Bought two dozen croaker and caught 5 keeper trout on the first 5 croaker.  The I moved to a redfish spot and in less than 45 minutes I had three keeper redfish.  The first one bit while I was putting out the second rod. While I was unhooking the third red  a fourth one got on the extra rod.  I quit fishing as soon as I released the extra red.  Hopefully, the fishing will be this good for the weekend.

5-7-2016--Had two half day trips today.  Each group caught 7 redfish and one trout.  The first trip ended at 11 AM but we wanted to wait for the falling tide before starting the afternoon trip so we had a four hour break between trips.  That worked but it made for a very long day.

4-30-2016--Today's guests caught their limits of 15 trout and released some.  They also managed to catch one nice flounder. If you have been waiting to fish when the catching was good now is the time.  Our bays have filled up with both trout and redfish.  Weather and tide conditions make some days better for catching trout and other days better for redfish.
